Project Overview
Etobicoke, ON
Durisol Ltd. was proud to lead the design, supply, and installation of a high-performance acoustic barrier system for the iconic Woodbine Racetrack. Completed in April 2025, this project addressed the complex acoustic and safety needs of the racetrack’s urban location, ensuring both community comfort and structural integrity.
To streamline construction and reduce cost, Durisol proposed a ground-mounted embedded steel post system, eliminating the challenges typically associated with CIP anchor embedment and rebar cages. This not only simplified installation but also improved overall precision and efficiency.
In response to the project’s strict durability and acoustic performance requirements, we supplied alternative double-sided absorptive panels and crash panels designed for TL-2 impact resistance, high sound attenuation, and a minimum 30-year service life.
Why it Matters
The Woodbine Racetrack Acoustic Wall serves as a critical buffer between the racetrack and the surrounding community, reducing noise pollution while enhancing safety. The aesthetic Natural Ashlar finish complements the racetrack’s urban design, while the wall’s durability ensures long-term value.
Importantly, the improved acoustic environment also benefits the horses and trainers, providing a quieter, calmer setting for training and preparation, which is essential to performance and wellbeing in a high-energy racetrack environment.
