Pedro Fernandes
General Manager
Pedro joined Durisol in 2008 as the first and only Estimator, bringing with him more than 20 years of estimating experience in the chemical, utility and automotive industries, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Originally tasked with standardizing our estimating procedures, Pedro developed what is now Durisol’s estimating tool and grew the department from the ground up. He currently leads his team in managing bid activities, generating product take-offs, producing cost estimates, and drafting proposals.
“I am of the belief that quality should never be compromised. Each estimate that comes out of our department is better than the last one from a degree of accuracy and consistency. That’s my biggest thing.”
Collaboration is vital to Pedro’s role as he must work closely with all of our departments throughout the bidding process. In the preliminary stages, he works closely with both the sales team to meet customer requirements and the design & engineering team in support of design development. Together with lead draftsperson, they reference past projects for comparison, consult with the manufacturing teams to determine customization, and establish standard item costing jointly with the finance team.

In addition, we have an experienced in-house engineering team instilling confidence that the solution we are providing will work.”
Pedro and his wife have been married for 25 years and have four children, four grandchildren and one very enthusiastic mixed breed terrier. In his down time, he enjoys long distance running, cycling, reading, and staying active outdoors.

Michael joined Durisol in 2013 bringing more than 20 years of experience in technical sales with him. In his current role as Director of Operations in the U.S., he leads his team in our continued efforts to increase Durisol’s presence in the U.S. His goal is to establish Durisol as the leader in the noise barrier industry throughout North America.

He has worked in various roles – from Control Inspector to Tech Services – which has helped him gain an appreciation for all aspects of the industry.
With his extensive experience, Mark oversees the Canadian Sales Team's market strategy and customer relations. His primary goal is to bring a team approach to both internal and external customers. Mark is known for his problem-solving skills and takes pride in finding solutions that meet the client’s needs. He enjoys the challenges of his job and strives to ensure that his team provides exceptional service to its customers.
Mark is an active member of the STOIDI Group, a charity organization dedicated to helping those in need. He also enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, hockey, training, reading, and coaching his children's sports teams.

Meet David Nong, the Estimating Manager at Durisol. He joined the team in 2021 as an Intermediate Estimator and was quickly promoted due to his excellent work in calculating the cost of products and services for clients. David manages the Estimating Department and works closely with the Engineering and Drafting Teams to ensure smooth operations.
David brings over a decade of experience as an estimator from his previous work with a precast manufacturer. His short-term goal is to learn more about the company's workings, allowing him to become more efficient by learning from roadblocks and how they were overcome. This experience will help to improve how he approaches each new estimate, anticipate potential issues, and mitigate future roadblocks.
David is an avid BBQer and loves spending time at the beach when he's not working. He's happily married and has two furry companions - a cat named Velvet and a dog named Snowball. David is a self-proclaimed foodie who loves experimenting with new cuisines in his kitchen to expand his palate. Although he used to play many sports, weight training is now his primary focus. While David knows some Spanish, he admits he's not entirely fluent in the language.

Meet Tom Huibers, Construction Manager at Durisol. With over 20 years in the construction industry, Tom started as a labourer at a construction company that specializes in roadside barrier installation, including noise barriers. He began his career as a foreman and progressed to a Project Management role. With years of dedication and hard work, he was promoted to Vice-President of Contracts before joining Durisol. Tom saw an opportunity with us that would help grow his skillset and present new opportunities.
Tom manages the construction projects from the pre-bid to the completion of the contract. Helping the Project Management and Engineering teams solve construction/constructability issues. He organizes the subcontractors for the installation portion of our work as well as works to solve day-to-day site issues with the subcontractors and Project Management team.
